One of the most striking of the buntings, the yellowhammer is most often seen at the edge of farmland which is where I saw this one early on Friday morning.

  13. Neil, thanks. They usually stay fairly well hidden in the branches. it was nice of this one to hop down to the fence. It wasn't there for long though.
