Apologies to anyone landing here for news of Opera's Dragonfly, but these one have progressed beyond their alpha stage 😉
The broad bodied chasers were out in force today, enjoying the warm weather. There were about half a dozen criss-crossing the dew pond, and occasionally resting up.
The damsels were also in evidence.
And this old crow popped in for a drink.
The gull chicks are still doing fine by the way (more photos of them soon), and we've had a couple of brief visits from various foxes (but still no visible sign of cubs). I've added more of the chaser photo to the main album over here.
Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens

6 Jun 2008Yet another stunning collection! Though I must say, that water in the crow picture is an interesting shade of grey / green! Must be the soil I guess.

6 Jun 2008Thanks for the comments. I love photographing the chasers. It's probably the most relaxed yet intense bit of photography I get into. Perfect way of escaping the day for half an hour or so. I set up by the pond and just settle down and wait. I was using a monopod for these, as much to take the weight of the camera as anything else. The crow was a nice addition.
And Adele, the water is pretty much that colour. Very murky. It's a clay-based pond surrounded by low vegetation (hence the green tinge/reflection).
