Started looking at M2 this evening. I've tended until now to run Opera with the mail feature disabled, but was looking at how to use RSS and realized that I needed 'mail' enabled. So what the heck… it's got to be worth looking at.
It looks nice. Visually much cleaner than anything I'm using. And I am tempted. But my problem is I already run so many mail accounts that switching is a major league task. Currently I have Pegasus for personal mail with 9 accounts on it, running across two servers, and my work IMAP account running through Mulberry. Plus I have Versamail set up for personal mail on my Palm, plus Snapper (currently the evaluation version) for the work IMAP account via Palm. And I run Agent for newsgroups (27 groups set up).
(Took a five minute break there to set up an account on Opera)
Setting up is nice and clean, but definitely a learning curve here with the range of filters/views. The active thread is a definite boon though. Great simply to bring send/receives into the same thread. This would save vast amounts of time with managing folders and making sure sent mail goes into the same folder as the incoming. Downside is that I doubt that Opera will log-in to my address books (held server side). And I'll have to figure out how to set up some 300 plus folders. Urghhh. I really should tidy up my email at some point.
Late now, so won't try and figure out anything else tonight. Except maybe how to do a 'catch up' on the newsgroups. I seem to be downloading the world.
