Major excitement tonight… while we were out with the cubs, an adult fox appeared on the garage roof and started some minor mayhem. I'm not sure whether this is the dog fox from last year or not, but the adult seemed reasonably comfortable with camera… less so with the cubs and there were several stand-offs. The adult spent most of the time on the garage roof, and eventually took to the heights of the main roof (see previous post). It's a fairly easy stroll up from the garage roof, but it was stunning to see him silhouetted against the night sky. The photos don't do it justice, but they're the best I can do.
Here's some of the action in images:
Arrival
Checking it out
On the wall
Stand-off with a cub (adult on right)
Scaling the roof
I also caught some of the fun on video. In the opening sequence, the adult is on the right. It disappears behind the shrubs, and a cub follows. Then there are scenes on the garage roof, and one of the youngsters makes a brief challenge. The adult is later seen back in the main garden before a final still on the garage roof.

Fantastic! I think that this is one of those times when one has to sit back and say "that is something only a fox would do…"
