I've accused him of laziness, and sure enough the young male fox spent the early part of yesterday evening up on his roof.
But he was certainly busy later in the evening. He came through the garden several times, nipping in under one fence and then out over another only to return a couple of minutes later (over the fence). He was too quick for me to be sure, and too far off – and quick – for a night photo, but it looked like he had his mouth full of roast chicken :eyes: He nipped back under the fence and was gone.
Later in the evening I could hear nosies in the shrubs, and he was back (under the fence again). He skirted the garden for a couple of minutes, found a morsel of something which he consumed, and then a 'stray' egg which he decided to cache.

Another quick look round and he was off again, this time disappearing down the side of the house out into the streets.
Nothing more to report in the way of cubs though. No obvious noises, and no definite signs to speak of. I'm continuing to keep an eye open and no doubt if there are any local cubs they'll put in an appearance in their own good time. Meanwhile, we watch…

26 Apr 2007I think it's nice and quiet for him up there (apart from the sea gulls). Hoping here too!

26 Apr 2007Great pictures. I love his huge ears. He seems to have a charmed existence – alternating between sleep and eggs!
And no sign of the older fox to disturb the youngster's slumbers?

27 Apr 2007We haven't seen the older fox for a few weeks. That's not unusual as I think he abandoned this spot as his main base some time last year. With luck though he'll show up again.
