They were trimming some trees at the edge of my usual car park at work today, so I was forced to use another one. I'm glad I did because while I was getting some boots from the car at lunchtime I noticed a regular criss-crossing of the area by a bird I hadn't seen before. There were several of them, brightly coloured but with the distinctive open-wing shape of a crow. The light wasn't great (actually it terrible), and most of the time they insisted on landing in thick foliage in the trees above me. But sometimes recording the event is more important than getting a great shot. The bird was, of course, a Jay. I presume I must have seen these before, but never knowingly and certainly not since I've been out and about with a camera. That's the joy of the artificial eye. It makes you open your real ones to what's around you. Slightly over-processed, but definitely a Jay
This is the clearest shot I managed
There were some familiar faces in the garden tonight. The white cat passed through briefly, and this little charmer was back at the feeding station (after the cat had gone). Munch Munch
Later still, and after a break of some days it seems, the most familiar face of all put in an appearance. Good to see him again. Looking good!
A brief note on lenses. The jays and mouse were taken using the 70-300mm DO lens. The fox photo was taken with the 105mm macro lens.

Mark, it's a family resemblance. 😀 This is the cub. He'd not been around for 3 or 4 days. Seems like a long time to me! I'm looking forward to some better weather, though this morning I've just looked outside and we're shrouded in mist 🙁
