As many of my recent posts have been taken at Falmer pond and churchyard I thought it time to post a couple of shots to give a slightly better idea of the location. I took these this afternoon. First a photo of the church itself.

This is the view from across the pond (I've cloned out a row of cars that were parked in front of the church 😉 )

And of course being at the pond I did take a few more photos of the ducklings 😉

One of the other resident birds I've not featured are the collared doves. There's a healthy colony around the village and they often come down to the edge of the pond to feed.

While I was there I checked out the nest I featured in yesterday's blog. This time an adult was incubating the brood.

I haven't forgotten about the foxes either. There's no sign of the cubs (yet) but Shutterbug is continuing to visit. These shots were taken in the early hours of Friday morning. It was foggy, and we'd had some rain. This is a very sodden fox indeed!

Camera note: duckling and dove shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. The church and pond were photographed with the EF17-40mm f/4L USM lens, and the fox with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

  1. Wet fox indeed, but it seems he don`t mind that at all :left:

  2. Are you sure he wasn't swimming with the ducks? 😀

  3. Mick, it wouldn't surprise me if there are some foxes near the pond, though I've not seen any so far.

  4. Darko, they really seem to thrive in all kinds of weather. They don't like windy days though (it's more difficult for them to hear what's happening).

  5. Erwin, thanks! It's a nice spot.

  6. Adele, to be fair it had more or less stopped raining, but the mist/fog was still drenching the air and it had been like that without break for 48 hours or so! He had little choice.

  7. Well, that's another revolutionary fox, if he's tolerating rain! :right:

More lovely shots of the little ducklings 🙂

  8. Very nice collection of pictures! Such a beautiful church. And lovely of the moore hen.

  9. Lois, thanks. I keep checking on the moorhen, but no brood of little ones yet. It can't be long now though.
