After all the recent bird and bugs posts, I thought it time to catch up with news of the foxes.

Although the cub has been a frequent visitor, Roofy has been much more elusive and by yesterday evening (Sunday) it had been a week since I'd seen him. I was beginning to wonder whether he had moved away. As it turned out he is still very much around, and last night I caught the briefest glimpse of him on the garage roof. It seems that the incessant rain has conspired against any sightings. Still I was surprised that he hadn't appeared in the garden over the weekend.
Sunday evening roof hopping

Tonight though he was back in dutiful parent mode. Just as the light was fading, he appeared with the cub close behind. The light was at that awkward level where it's a toss up between cranking the ISO settings and slowing the shutter speed, or resorting to flash. These are without flash.

The perfect parent

I also managed to get some video of the pair of them together which I'll try and post in the next few days. Roofy eventually wandered off, leaving us with the youngster who was at his most photogenic. (I used flash for this one.)

  4. Thanks!

I'm not sure where Roofy had been, but it was obviously good to see him looking so well. I was pleased with the photo of the pair of them, particularly given the relatively poor light at the time.
