Apart from yesterday when I was in London, this has been a miserable week for the weather. Dull, damp days, and rainy nights. I risked the light drizzle at lunchtime today, and while not exactly a spectacular, I did spot a sparrowhawk gliding over the fields.

Nearer to the ground, a bold female blackbird allowed me to get close enough for a few frames before she vanished into the thicker undergrowth.

It's been too wet to go outside to try to catch a glimpse of the local foxes, but the signs are that they are still around somewhere. This is beginning to turn into the longest fox-free period (photographically) in over 3 years of documenting the garden foxes. I did manage a few photos on New Year's Eve, but since then, nothing beyond some very brief observations and this one shot from January 2nd.

  1. Its been really wet hasnt it  It looks good for today after 9am and Saturday though so thats good

I see several birds hover above Gatwick so if i go spotting tomorrow i will try and catch those……… if the aircraft dont first! :yikes: 😛

  2. The weather has been mostly frustrating. Wednesday I got lucky with the weather but its just got worse and worse since.

Great photos as ever, I'm sure your get a fox soon

  3. Oh yes, a very slow photo week for me :insane: I'm going to be creating posts through recycling pictures from Canada if this carries on much longer!

Anyway, good to see the hawk, as always

  4. Neil, extremely. Looked nice this afternoon but I was stuck in meetings so didn't get out at all.

  5. Adele, I'm already recycling fox photos (or more accurately slowly working through unused ones, of which I have a fair few!). But it's deeply frustrating :insane:

  6. Mark, aircraft and birds don't mix too well, but good luck! I missed the best of the weather today, but hoepfully will get out at the weekend.

  7. Thanks Lois. The photos do the sky an injustice… it was more a sludge grey 😉

  8. Beautiful photos! I rather like the white-ish sky, it makes such a nice contrast with the birds.
