I've just seen that I've made the shortlist for 'Best Blog by a Male' and 'Top Photographer' in the annual My Opera Awards. But I'm not alone in those lists so take a look around first, and see who you want to vote for. And a big thanks to those who nominated me. Much appreciated 😀

Meanwhile I got home from work having managed the sum total of one out of focus shot of a robin today. I'd nearly managed a shot of a rabbit (there's a semi-bold one that hangs around near where I park the car), but it timed its dash for cover and was gone before I could hit the shutter release. So I was all the more pleased when I went outside tonight and was joined almost immediately by the nicked-ear vixen. She was in one of her bold moods, scouring the borders and – including brief excursions into neighbouring gardens – staying around for about 10 minutes.

  1. Grubby you say? That's foxy camouflage! :p Nice to see her back.

Oh and congrats on the nominations!!

  2. She was great last night. I watched her through the window later on. She looked like she the owned the place.

  3. Well done on getting nominated – you deserve it for both catergories. How do I vote? The links come up with 'not authorised' message?

Great foxy pics as usual 😉

  4. Thats great well done! I cant seem to view the two sites as it says i need authorisation to be allowed to but i guess i need to be higher rank to see that.

  5. I voted for Words yesterday 🙂

Nice pictures of the vixen. The weather today could hardly be worse for pictures – glad you got some of her last night!

  6. Yes i voted in the end, voted for you on best blog by male and voted for Adele on best female blog….. 😛

Next time i really should look through all of them and decide really as voting friends only is a bit like the Eurovision song contest votes! 😆

  7. Neil, thanks. The links should be fixed now. I think they moved the page in the background. Serves me right for being quick off the mark.

  8. Mark, thanks. I know what you mean about the Eurovision aspect but it's just a bit of fun and it is worth checking out some of the excellent things in the various categories now that they've added links to the various blogs!

  9. Adele, thanks for the vote! Today's has been rubbish weather-wise, and it's now raining quite heavily here. Bah!

  10. Ha! im on there – how silly. Well you get my vote for best male blog (with some stiff competition from mark, duplo and the others)

  11. I agree with mark on both the eurovison effect and best female

  12. Thanks Mark! 🙂

@Words – the forecast looks even worse for tomorrow! 🙁

  13. Great news on the blog-nominations. I can't say that I'm surprised- I have to admire your dedication at times 🙂

I like the grubby-fox photo too  nice detail on the furs and good look with the eyes.

  14. Brendan, it's a way of keeping me sane. It's just so peaceful waiting and watching for them.

  15. I've voted for you Words. 🙂 It doesn't seem like very many are voting on the Opera Community though, just 200 out of almost 2 million?

  16. Wow 2 million Opera blogs? When i get time i will have a look at all of them 😛 I agree its fun to do and some of the highest votes including Words one is 4% which i thought was low, maybe its gone up a bit now. 🙂

  17. Mark, yes nearly 2 million members. Not everyone has a blog, but there's still a heck of a lot to see around here.

  18. Eric, thanks! I suspect the problem with voting is the new front page. Even if you go there, it's hard to see that anything is happening and any day now the announcement will disappear completely from view. And anyway, how many regular users go to the home page?

  19. Great photos

  20. Thanks Cynthia!

  21. I have to say that I also don't visit the Opera home page regularly.

Also, the cruel hard reality of blogging, is that most of them die an early death from neglect.

Hmm, I had no idea your sanity was under such serious threat! That's a lot of hours of inner peace and fox photos.

Good luck with the competition 🙂

  23. Brendan, thanks. Very true about blogs. The 2 million is members, the number of blogs is probably closer to 10% of that (there used to be a figure on the site, but I can't find it since the updates).
