On alert

The reason

The vixen squeals submissively

And the dog fox wanders away

Meanwhile, the hedgehog ignores them both

Camera note: all tonight's shots taken with the EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens.

  1. Clever 'ol hedgehog! 😀 Nice sequence capture of the foxes.

  2. Vulpes, both foxes went over and sniffed at the hedgehog. It did a minor curl into a ball, but was not too bothered and soon returned to eating and cleaning itself! I didn't give myself a great angle for the foxes, but I'm glad I caught the vixen's posturing.

  3. fantastic hedgehog 🙂

  4. Excellent sequence!! Thanks for the great explanation of what is happening. The hedgehog is really cute with his tongue out!

  5. Sweet hedgehog, but the fox behaviour shots are great. She really is gaping in the third one. What with the eyeshine and the flattened ears as well, she actually looks slightly big cat-like :eyes: :cat:

  6. Adele, thanks. I love moments like that. I can see what you mean about the 'big cat' look. The sound she made was a bit a give-away though.

  7. Lois, it was great to watch the two foxes. That's the nicked-ear vixen who is always very cautious around the dog fox, and quite nervy with the bold vixen too.

  8. Neil, yes the hedgehog was very nearly the star of the show last night.

  9. Very nice, i like the way how you caght the Vixen sqealing:D The Hedgehog looks so cute.

  10. Mark, I really liked that shot of the hedgehog. They look so cute with their head up 😀
