Pied Wagtail

Well that was brief summer… today it's high wind and rain all over the country, and as though there wasn't enough water about this pied wagtail decided to go for paddle in the dewpond. Here are a couple of shots. The complete sequence starts here.

Meanwhile I seem to be making a collection of odd animal photos. It started with the bald blackbird last week, and it was around again today.

And here's a sparrowhawk shrugging in mid air, taken yesterday.

Finally, also taken yesterday, is my first albino snail.

The foxes have continued to show up regularly, though tonight's rain may have put them off (no signs yet this evening). I've been keeping up the July Fox album. This is the bold vixen from Sunday night.

Camera note: Birds all taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens. The vixen and snail were photographed with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM + Kenko Teleplus 1.4x Pro 300 DG teleconverter.

    Rain every day here is Appalachia too, but only for small time periods. It's good for the garden, but it makes the days so humid. Great unusal and cool photography Words! 🙂

    Adele, the sparrowhawk was one frame in a burst (the others were entirely 'normal'). I was missing the local sparrowhawks. They'd been a bit thin in the air recently, so good to see this one come by.

    Mark, I almost give up on our weather. Another cold grey day today with only glimpses of sunshine. The snail was odd. I'm used to see those tiny transluscent ones, but not a full sized albino.

    FB, yes she's certainly much more at ease than the nicked-ear vixen. She has a tendency to run to the rear of the garden and then work her way forward until she's almost too close to photograph!
