A day of two halves. The morning was damp and misty, some of the worst weather we've had all month. The afternoon, on the other hand, turned out to be one of the better days. Moderate sunshine, and blue skies. Here's a selection of photos taken during the afternoon.

Leucanthemum – Broadway Lights

Wasps and apple

Greenfinch

Collared dove

One of these was doing aerobatics

And one from this evening 😉

The nicked-ear vixen

Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens, except the vixen for which I used the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM.

  1. Beautiful shots!! You have quite a great series there! I love your comment, that one of the planes was doing aerobatics! 😆 I wonder which one!

  2. Interesting shot of the wasps and apple! I didn't get many pictures yesterday and I'm not sure what the weather will do today :right:

  3. Adele, we have too many wasps at the moment (I think we've nest in our roof). They'll die off soon enough, but it means that anything sugary in the garden is a target for them.

As for the weather, grey skies and rain so far today.

  4. Lois, I noticed the red plane doing tricks when I heard its engine cut out at the end of climb :yikes: It restarted a moment or so later, but it worries the life out of me when they do that.

  5. Nice photos today – each so different, but a wonderful easy thought to connect each piece. I also like very much the way that each photo contains a primary color for most of its composition.

  6. A nice selection! 🙂

  7. Great shots as always! The stunt plane photo is cool too. Made me remember a B-25 and a Lancaster flew over my head a couple weeks ago.

  8. You were lucky to see a Lancaster, I think there are only 23 or so left in the world.

  9. Eric, oh nice sighting of a B52 and Lancaster. We very occasionally get spitfires over our way (we're a few miles from a local airshow site), but I don't think I've seen a Lancaster.

  10. Thanks Cynthia. It's sometimes nice to stay in one spot and see what appears.

  11. Vulpes, cheers!
