The title will become clear in a moment, but I wanted to open with a photo taken early this morning as the sun was rising. It's not a photo of the sun though; it's the other sky light, the moon just preparing to set.
Now for the title shots. The pond is currently home to a substantial number of black-headed gulls. I've taken numerous photos but for one reason or another they've not featured in my posts. I took this sequence at lunchtime today. Someone had started feeding them which is the perfect time to catch them on the wing.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D EF and 400mm f/5.6L USM lens.

16 Oct 2011Nice, unusual shot of the moon! And the black-headed gulls are very delicate. I've seen a few up here, along with the bigger species.

23 Oct 2011Cynthia, thanks. The early morning is such a good time to get out with the camera. And at this time of year it's also quite a civilized time to be up and about! That helps.
