We had some nice summer weather today, perhaps more like a good spring day than a true summer; but it was warm, with a slight breeze. After the generally terrible recent weather it was good to be able to enjoy it.

The hoverfly were buzzing around the garden in little clouds of activity, coming to rest every now and then on a flower-head.

A large white butterfly was enjoying the lavender.

Further afield, the marble whites were out in force. They feed in the long meadow grass, so a clear shot is a rare occurrence.

Down by the coast, the rock pipits were busy feeding their young.

While overhead, the herring gulls patrolled the skies.

  1. Hi Words, how are you my friend?
Your photos and blog are a inspiration for me. You and some other members are putting in my mind my "return" or back to Opera.
I think by your photos I will bring something tomorrow for my blog!
    Thank you.

  4. Thanks Erwin!

  5. Darko, all adult herring gulls have that red mark under the beak. It's one of the ways you know they are what they are 😀
