This is getting a little silly, but our local (juvenile) cormorant was still at the pond today. The weather was dull and overcast, with a touch of drizzle and cooling wind. These aren't ideal conditions, and it's now becoming something of a challenge to find new angles on the running theme. Nevertheless, given that I photographed nothing else today, cormorants is what it is.

These first few shots were taken this morning in what proved to be the best light of the day. The cormorant was emerging from the pond as I drew up. It favours this sandy/grassy bank in the mornings when it's quiet.

I was back at the pond at lunchtime. The skies had darkened and there was a light drizzle. It took a while to find the cormorant, but eventually I located him (?) on some wooden piles at the edge of the small island.

Scruffy little tykes, I love them 😀 There were quite a few at Shapwick corner, one my local reserves this week.

  11. I spy a gull in its winter clothes…

  12. Adele, it says something about our climate that mid August the gulls are already eschewing summer garb!

  13. Gaina, I completely agree. I usually see far more of them down at the coast (or on rare visits to London, but this lone youngster is providing the best photographic opportunities of any of them.
