It’s feeling autumnal now, as we move into mid-October. The temperature is slipping down the scale and the breezes are strengthening. Thankfully the rain is holding off for the moment, though the water level at the local pond is low and would benefit from a top-up.

There’s plenty of life down by the water’s edge. The young rats are still lurking…

Just along from the furry rodents a lone grey wagtail was picking its way through the pond-side debris.

Across the centre of the pond two moorhens engaged in a perpetual game of chase.
