A Coot, a Wren, and a Gull Taking Off…

Really just the photos today. There was good light, but it was cold. These were taken at lunchtime.

First the coot.

I spotted this tiny wren at the bottom of the churchyard.

And finally a sequence of three shots of a black-headed gull taking off from the pond.

Nice ones, Words! I especially like seeing the wren.

dW, we have a very healthy wren population, but they are far from easy to photograph. Fast, small and lovers of deep shade and undergrowth. It's always nice when one does step out for a moment.

You must have used a fast shutter speed to catch the water droplets from the gull. Great shots!!

Darko, yes I had to include that little group. One of those rare moments where everything is really sharp.

Lois, thanks. Just checked and the shutter fired at 1/4000s. So yes, fast!

I know what you mean about wrens – often seen but a nightmare to catch on camera. Glad this one cooperated!

Adele, they are such feisty little birds. This one was ducking in and out but just once in a while they'll stand proud in the open and challenge all-comers.

We've lot's of that all over, including our garden (though the wren was somewhere else).
