Really just the photos today. There was good light, but it was cold. These were taken at lunchtime.

First the coot.

I spotted this tiny wren at the bottom of the churchyard.

And finally a sequence of three shots of a black-headed gull taking off from the pond.

  1. Nice ones, Words! I especially like seeing the wren.

  2. dW, we have a very healthy wren population, but they are far from easy to photograph. Fast, small and lovers of deep shade and undergrowth. It's always nice when one does step out for a moment.

  3. I like that gull sequence

  4. You must have used a fast shutter speed to catch the water droplets from the gull. Great shots!!

  5. Darko, yes I had to include that little group. One of those rare moments where everything is really sharp.

  6. Lois, thanks. Just checked and the shutter fired at 1/4000s. So yes, fast!

  7. very cheering!

  8. I know what you mean about wrens – often seen but a nightmare to catch on camera. Glad this one cooperated!

  9. Kathy, thanks!

  10. Adele, they are such feisty little birds. This one was ducking in and out but just once in a while they'll stand proud in the open and challenge all-comers.

  11. That's hedera he's in, isn't it? How irresistibly English!

  12. We've lot's of that all over, including our garden (though the wren was somewhere else).
