A special treat tonight. I looked out of the window early this evening and there was a fox lingering in the garden. Not the young one, that was obvious even from a quick glance. I opened the back door to get a better look, but the noise caused the fox to retreat to the rear of the garden. Kinky, the vixen? I couldn't be sure.

After a few moments though, the visitor plucked up enough courage to venture back to the front end of the lawn, just above the patio flower bed. It turned out to be the old male fox we'd been treating for mange, but who'd last appeared some five weeks ago. He was looking in good shape, but still had a few remnant signs of balding on his left rear flank. And his brush isn't as thick as it might be. His main body coat is looking a lot better though, and he seemed in rude health.

We put out a small quantity of dog food with added cod liver oil for him which he 'wolfed' down. The oil helps the coat, and is the main reason for the food which ws just enough to serve as a base for the oil.

And so to the pictures. Just a couple as he didn't stay long.

In this last shot you can see the bald areas on his flank.

  1. Thank you for the foxes!

  2. Oh its nice to see hes returned, hopefully you can continue treating him so his mange has gone:D

  3. Nice to see 🙂 Are you going to resume his treatment? If so, I presume you'll need to start from Dose 1 again.

  4. He's not showing up sufficiently regularly to try and treat, but he's a wily old fox and I'm not too worried. If he needs help, he knows where to come.
