It's probably not fair to say that the weather today was dreadful, but the only time I was outside it did rain. Heavily. I took partial shelter under some trees.

I wasn't alone in seeking cover. This rather bedraggled jay had a similar idea.

Nothing else today, although I have been sorting through some of the photos from earlier in the year for a calendar. This one is still, I think, my favourite shot of 2012. It's going to be hard to beat.

  1. I have to agree about the barn owl … they're such handsome birds, anyway, and that's a perfect shot.
Not much leaf canopy left for that poor jay … Or for you, for that matter, but you had a choice of indoors or outdoors.

  2. Second picture is just charming  Nicely framed and good DOF.

  3. Nice…to see the jay lovely

  4. I'm trying to forget all knowledge of the water cycle and believe that some day, eventually, the sky will run out of rain.

Jays are always a nice capture

  5. Adele, the most alarming thing I've read is that if the planet does warm the air will hold even more water so our downpours will be even worse. Bring on the ice age! At least it might be dry.

  6. dW, the leaves are down, the rain is falling, and today one of my favourite trees collapsed onto a small building. The weather is not kind at the moment.

  7. Sami, thanks. I felt quite sorry for the poor thing.

  8. Erwin, thanks!

  9. This rather bedraggled jay had a similar idea.

And you took the only dry place :irked: 😛

  10. Darko, of course I did. The jay didn't have a camera 😉

  11. 😆
