Back to Black

Another overcast day, with spots of rain persisting after an overnight downpour. I circuited the pond looking for a subject, and finally came across a lone cormorant perched on one of the several poles that jut out of the water.

Nothing else to report from today. It's been quiet.

Well, every day can't be a three-ring circus, Words. And you've made good use of this one. He's quite blue in this light, and the detail in the feathers is remarkable. It's made the bill go white, though … but that doesn't ruin the shot.

Ah yes, rain – I'd nearly forgotten what it was. At least cormorants are all-weather birds.

dW, it was a bit of a struggle processing those shots. They were taken at a high ISO (1600) and a low shutter speed, but as basic shots of the day they are fine.

Sami, it's the way he's looking back that makes the last shot.

Adele, the rain is at least tending to come in over night. I don't mind that so much, though the fields here are not much more than mud.
