A quick series of photos from this evening. The first three are newts, coming to the surface of the pond for air. Grabbing shots like these has become a minor obsession following this post from last week.

As for the 'spike' in the title, that's a reference to the garden hedgehogs (of which there are at least a pair). Here's the larger of the two.

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM lens.

  1. No woodmice around? Bubble and squeak is traditional.

    Still some great shots.

  2. If I could have I 'wood' have. 😉

    Groan 😆

  4. Maybe they are chasing bubbles 😀

  6. Adele, thanks. The pond shots are "something to do while waiting for something to happen" type of shots, but with a gaming feature of "shoot the bubble". The third shot gets the bonus points 😉

  7. Nice to see the hog 🙂

Interesting pond shots as well 🙂

  8. Darko, or running from foxes and cats!
