Common Sandpiper

The first sequence was taken early this morning. The common sandpiper is a small wading bird, and very occasionally I see one (or two) at the pond. But not often and I usually struggle to get any decent shots. They're quite shy and even with a long lens they find it relatively easy to stay out of range. Maybe it was the exceptional weather today…

That was one end of the pond. At the other, a heron. Always a heron, this time photographed into the sun.

Sandpiper – nice bird to see at the pond  I saw a heron perched on the barrier of the railway bridge between Battersea and Victoria yesterday!

Adele, that's a good heron sighting indeed! They really do stand out in the city.
