Cormorant

A dull, grey morning with no light. The rain falling steadily. And a cormorant parading across the pond.

It circuited on the water several times, and eventually perched on a submerged rock to dry off. In the rain.

Camera note: photos and video taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

Drying off in the rain…something only a cormorant would attempt :left:

Adele, it seemed quite prepared for a long session. I'd have stayed longer but work was calling.

dW, thanks! Video always works better than stills in poor light.

So, when the weather is dull, cormorant is the main bully in the pond? 😛

Darko, only early in the morning. It seems to disappear after it's had a fish breakfast. :chef:

Another great series of shots. The video is excellent. Our cormorants seem to just spread their wings, they don't wiggle them like that. Or is that the effect of the wind?

Lois, it was indeed shaking its wings to help dry them off. It was raining, but not too windy.
