Such beautiful animals. You're lucky to be able to see them, ours are usually in the woods and very frightened of people.

Excellent! They look like they've got their winter coats on now. I haven't seen any deer close up for a while (not that I've had much chance to look, given the weather).

Tab, thanks. It's slightly easier to see them at this time of year. As the crops grow they'll be almost entirely hidden from view. This was probably the best sighting I've had locally.

Adele, the weather has been terrible. Everywhere is so sodden underfoot. The deer were a much needed treat at the end of the week.

I love deer shots! It's odd I live so rurally, yet rarely see them myself… Photo's were a treat!

Lois, they come out into the fields to graze. The four out in the centre of the field kept to themselves. The single one was much closer and quite curious but still kept a reasonable distance.

Last time I saw one it was flying up into my windsheild.
Bent the frame on my van.
Poor thing *sniff*

I called my insurance, and they wouldn't cover it, because they couldn't sue the deer!
I felt horrible, I had never hit an animal before.

It was sickening..I have not driven a rural road after dark since.
Insurance rarely benifits anyone but the insurance company. I paid 6 grand for the van and got 4 months out of it. It was written off. I sold it for parts for 500.00.

I've not hit anything on the road, but it must be a sickening moment. As for the insurance??? That's mad.

Nice shots  I have seen three roe deers in a two days spent in Croatian mountains but they were not that patient to wait for me to grab my camera. It was snowing there and they were going to walleys to avoid coldness and deeper snow. Wolves, too :left:
