I took these before work this morning. It makes such a difference now the harvest is in.
Roe deer in the early morning sun

That was about as close as I could get with the camera. Beyond that the path I was on drops down into a small dip and the taller grasses blocked any clear view. I did try to work my way round from the other side, but by then they'd retreated into the woods that line the field.

About the only other shot I got today (the garden is unbelievably quiet!) was of this female kestrel at lunchtime. She seems be be re-growing tail feathers, not that it proved any hindrance to her.

  1. Interesting "configuration" of her tail feathers

  2. great photos. Nice way to start the day

  3. Nice shots of the deer – looks like a doe with two half grown fawns 🙂 Guess they'll be moulting into their grey winter coats soon.

  4. Adele, yes it's the season of changes. I've noticed the blue tits are back in number. Still too many leaves on the trees though.

  5. Neil, thanks. It was a nice break from the usual sightings.

  6. Darko, yes she seems a bit of a warrior. She was quite large for a kestrel.

  7. Erwin, thanks!

  8. Nice shots
