This entry was going to be about something else entirely (dragonflies), but despite getting my first shots of darters the flighty things have been well and truly put in their place by the appearance of one of the cubs in the garden this evening.

I'd been outside on one of my regular prowls. A couple of hedgehogs were snorting away in the undergrowth. A black cat slid along the back of the garden, trying to pass by unnoticed. And then a small movement in the far corner caught my eye. I wasn't sure what it was, but waited. A small creature edged forward…

One of the cubs had decided to brave the garden while I was out there. 😀 I kept very still, and watched as it tried to make up its mind whether it was safe or not. It tucked away into a corner…

And then finally decided that I wasn't a threat…

And finally a proper pose for the camera…

So the dragonflies will have to wait for another day… you just can't beat a friendly fox cub.

  1. Awww, it looks so cute. And in its eyes you can see insecurity. I hope it will come again and became a regular visitor

  2. Yes: you got him or her lol! well done. 😀 hopefully there are more visits.

  3. you have charmed all of the fox world, Adele 🙂 what a sweet garden friend – and the occasional hedgehog, FUN!! will look forward to the dragonflies whenever they arrive… 🙂

  5. with who? you mistook me for someone didn't you… hehe… just joking. at least you are willing to admit it. 😀

  6. again, I'm dumb. I've done this before – I forget which subscription I'm on– I see that fox and get all confused! I will leave this and ascribe it to what I said, but add careless to dumbness… in hopes Adele and Words will show me grace and perhaps have a chuckle. I must pay close attention or I will alienate my friends. :worried:

thank you Darko, I hope your colour will return to you, the blueness is scaring me (since I am so far away)! 🙁

  9. 😆 Jill, this happens all the time! 😉 But we can be told apart – I don't have hedgehogs 😥

  10. Mark, you can bet I'll be watching for more visits. At the moment I'll just keep still not to scare it off.

  11. Jill, LOL! Don't worry about it. Iget names wrong sometimes as well. Easily done when you're moving between pages. But as Adele says, she doesn't have hedgehogs 😉

  12. Darko, it was a little bit nervous, but stayed for a few minutes and was back again later (with its mum) once I'd gone inside. That's a good start 😉

  13. Thanks Neil! I hope to get more soon. 🙂

  14. Adele, it's taken some time this year, but with luck he'll stay around a bit longer now he knows I'm not very scary.
