With temperatures hovering around 80°F, and blue skies, this really must be summer. The water level in the local pond is dropping, and out over the fields the swifts are feasting.

The grass is still green, but another week or so like this and it will start turning to 'summer brown'. For now though, the fields add a perfect blend of green to the countryside.

Even the butterflies have emerged. This is a marbled white, one of my favourite species.

  1. Lovely, Words!
In the high 80°s here today, and going up for a week or so. I'm essentially a prisoner of my A/C until we get a break, but it's supposed to hit 90°+ this week, and stay there for a while. I've taken worse, but it was in the desert … here the dewpoints are in the 70°s … if you're wearing dark clothes, you'll see white deposits of salt in the joint areas.

  2. dW, the heat is staying with us for a while longer. It's so long since we've had a good summer, and it's not too humid. There was a nice breeze today so it's manageable.

  3. I'm very jealous very nice place….awesome picture too! ly Words! 😎

  4. Thanks Zenaida! I'm lucky. these were taken during a break 'at work'.
