Another day, another grey day, and another blog much like the ones before. This time though I'll start with the most regal of all the birds in the Royal park. It even has courtiers (a mallard and a goose).

As well as the swan, I couldn't resist taking more photos of the Egyptian geese. As with the swan, the goose is on the small island in the centre of the lake.

This is just a shot I liked.

And still no foxes 🙁 Mind you, I checked to see what photos I had of them from a year ago and the answer was none. They seem to avoid the garden (or maybe just me) in the winter. It's a regular pattern, but Spring should be more fruitful; and hopefully a touch warmer.

  1. One good thing about the gloom though is that it washes out the sky making the heron really stand out. I liked this in your earlier shots too.

  2. I like that heron photo, too.

  3. Herons have ridiculously flexible necks.

Seasonal fox blips…ours seems to be over now. Strange that it comes a little earlier than yours.

I got caught in the Oxford-Reading train rush hour tonight. A variation on a theme :insane:

  4. Darko, thanks.

  5. Adele, it is really quite astonishing how herons shape-shift the way they do. Still nothing with our foxes (except via the trail cam). I live in hope, but probably ned to spend more time watching for them. I've not used the Oxford-Reading line, but I imagine it's at least as bad as the routes going south from London.

  6. Lois, certainly some light cloud cover can help, but this was really too dark for comfort! I was shooting at ISO 1000 most of the time.
