I was in London earlier in the week. That's where I took the photo of the Post Office Tower. I also spent a few minutes in Tavistock Square photographing the wildlife there, and nearly getting myself knocked over by flocks of pigeons.

I'd started by taking a few pictures of them in the open, but I then wandered under a heavy tree canopy and to my astonishment a flock headed straight for me. Within a few seconds the ground at my feet was heaving, and a flock was surrounding me in the air. So close I could feel their wings beating the air against me. A couple of the pigeons were holding their position for what would have been a perfect 'in flight' photo had I had the wit about me to focus the camera properly. I didn't and most of the rapid series of shots were a mess of blurs and out of focus darkness. I'll know better next time.

Here's a few that did work out ok. You can find the whole set in the Tavistock Square album. And click on the images to enlarge.

One of the shots when they were flocking

Among the mess of pigeons, the squirrels were happily going about their business. Strange, but I always see more squirrels in London than down here on the South Coast.
