A bit of a selection box of local birds today, taken out at Seven Sisters near Eastbourne.

I'll start with one of the smaller birds, a thrush perched in a tree.

Next, in size order, is a redshank, but this time it's one of the two-legged variety.

The third sighting was a little egret. There were several dotted about, but this one presented a nice flight shot.

Fourth, is a cormorant, lazily fishing in the salt water inlet.

Now for heron, nicely fluffing up its feathers against the chill breeze.

Two more to go… starting with a juvenile.

…and ending with the adults.

  1. Very nice, all of 'em, Words. Thanks.

  2. The young swan is just like from the famous fairy tail.

  3. The heron's hairstyle made me laugh!

  4. He's a "Teddy Boy" heron, if memory serves.

  5. dW, thanks!

  6. Adele, I wish I'd been able to get closer for that shot of the heron.

  7. dW, I was veering more to 'punk' given the spikiness of the hairdo. A teddy boy would have combed it forward a bit more.

  8. Slender, yes, the ugly duckling midway through its transformation.

  9. Forgive me, Words … it's been a while …

I dream wistfully of the days when I had choice in such matters!
