We took advantage of a hot, sunny day (yes really!) to head over to the RSPB Reserve at Pulborough Brooks. A beautiful location, with several excellent hides and viewing points. This is a small selection.

As well as the wildlife, it seems I can't get away from WWII aircraft. yesterday it was a B-25 bomber. Today, a Spitfire!

There are more shots from today in the Pulborough Brooks album.

Camera note: all shots taken with the EOS 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

  1. Great shots of the spitfire and heron! Don't the geese help graze too? 😉

  2. It seems you have found a way to travel through time 😀 Nice shot of Spitfire. Also, the first one

  3. Pulborough Brooks! I haven't been there for some years. It's got a very pretty setting within the Arun Valley. Did you see any deer?

The goose population seems have increased exponentially since I was last there :eyes:

  4. nice set of photos

  5. Great series!

  6. Adele, we caught a glimpse of deer just near the visitor centre, but none apart from those (viewed through one of the scopes they had set up). If I had more time I can imagine spending a lot of time there. The hides were excellent though I'm not used to being at quite such a distance from what I'm photographing.

  7. Neil, thanks!

  8. Darko, thanks! Yes, it's always weird seeing planes from the 1940s. :alien::alien:

  9. Lois, thanks!

  10. Eric thanks! I'm sure the geese do a good job of grazing the land, but they're flighty things so some back-up is always useful 😉

  11. Lovelly photos 😀 Pulborough is near Brinsbury College where i studied Horticulture from 1998 to 2002, seems long ago now! Many happy memories there, i think i really should have visited Pulborough Brooks aswell.

It seems like the Shoreham Airshow day was the only sunny day we had this Summer! I had a great time and i will show photos later, i took around 300 as usual!!! 😛 It was good that nothing bad happened like it did last year, although crashes at airshows are really quite rare events.

  12. I wondered if you were at Shoreham. We drove past the queue of traffic heading in that direction. It looked like it was going to take some time to get in. I'll look forward to your photos.
