It doesn't look especially cold outside, but it is officially the coldest Easter on record, and it certainly feels that way. Even this far south, the wind outside is biting. It's kept me indoors for most of the weekend. Even though it's dry it just isn't enticing out there. It's the breeze that really does the damage, and the constant hint of snow in the air.

We did get the briefest glimpse of the sun yesterday (Saturday). This is one of the regular local cats that passes through the garden, usually dodging the foxes and badgers at night. Nice to see her in the day.

The garden also seems to be attracting goldfinches. They are safe from the cat up in the trees, but they may be part of the reason the cat has been hanging around so much.

The trail camera rolls on nightly. This is a short interaction between a badger (female, lactating?) and a fox.

Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens.

  1. Well, I don't understand why you guessed lactating, but I don't really know much about badgers, despite the fact that I live in The Badger State. It was an interesting interaction, however.

  2. dW, it's just the way her side looks as she turns away at the end. I could be wrong, but it's the right time of year. At least the fox didn't actually pull her tail this time. 🙂

  3. Well, that long fur will help a cat on that prolonged winter :left: What's wrong with Europe's weather second year in a row? :left:

  4. That cat reminds me so much of Foot.

  5. Adele, I thought it would. 😉

  6. Darko, I reckon we've reduced our carbon footprint so much that we're cooling down the whole blessed planet. Give me fossil fuels! The ice age is coming!
