Well tonight was interesting. First off, as I was getting dinner ready I looked out of the kitchen window and spotted Kinky trotting across the road to a garden opposite. It's the first time I've seen her in about a week. She looked good. Quite skinny now, but she's got a solid looking coat on her back, and her tail is thickening up nicely.

In the garden the adults seem to have spent the last couple of days creating more space. A pile of rubble has appeared from under the fence, presumably where they've been creating a bit more space for the brood, or possibly another exit point from the earth. I'll clear that away over the weekend. While I was waiting for the cubs, I spotted this little chap on the bird-feeder.

Wood mice are occasional visitors and tend to hide up in the beech trees at the side of the garden, nipping down after dark to get the peanuts. The other surprise was that the dog fox (who we haven't seen for several weeks) put in a brief appearance. He's lost his winter coat and although he looks skinny he is certainly in much better condition than this time last year. As ever, he was happy to stay in the garden with me and for a small consideration of a Markie biscuit posed for this shot.

The cubs didn't come out to play until quite late. Lots of leaping about in the undergrowth which made photographing them somewhat tricky. However I did manage this shot which is my Fox Cub of the Day for Saturday.
