Cheeky was back in her (new) favourite spot tonight: the leaf mould bin. In case you're wondering what the 'bin' is, it's simply four stakes surrounded by chicken wire and filled with fallen leaves… which rot down and can be used as mulch or soil improver. None of that is of much interest to a young fox, and Cheeky likes it for the security (it's 3-4 feet high), the warmth (all that rotting matter generates heat), comfort (it's nice and soft), and an endless supply of bugs for food (the bugs love it for the same reasons she does, bar the final reason).

22 Jul 2010Funny how animals will pick a favourite sleeping spot. I've notice that our cats have locations that they will always choose.

23 Jul 2010Adele, she does like that bed, though its real function is home to some slow worms (who also quite like the compost bin just next to it).

23 Jul 2010Mick, they're not silly. Find a good spot and hang on to it.

23 Jul 2010Be careful then if you ever take a nap in your garden, you don't wake up with a fox sleeping on your chest 😉
