The weather was throwing a tantrum today… mist, wind, rain. Absolutely useless for photography so I hadn't even looked at the camera before about 10.30 tonight when the rain finally relented. The wind didn't, but I can put up with that.
I started with something safe… a snail. That guarantees that I have a shot for my 365 album. And I have to say this is a rather imperious looking snail!
Then the foxes showed up. First it was the young male. He's picked up an injury on his right front leg. You can see the swelling in these shots. It's not hampering his movement and leg injuries are very much par for the course for a fox, so apart from monitoring him there's not much to be done. They're very stoic creatures.
Handsome
Handsome didn't stay for long. He's still quite wary, and the wind didn't help. Cheeky is quite the opposite. Bold (like her mother), and, well, cheeky!
Cheeky
She can do the proper fox thing though when she wants to. Here she is peering round the edge of a rose bush giving a suitably severe stare.
I'm looking forward to slightly improved weather over the next few days (the forecast is moderately promising). We'll see.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM lens.

16 Sep 2010Cynthia, I was teasing her in the first one (head cocked to one side) by making little 'chirrup' noises!

16 Sep 2010Mark, I think his leg will be fine. They all seem to pick up injuries and make much less fuss than footballers (or indeed me!). I like the 'mouth' shots… and it reminds me of how large those teeth are 😀

17 Sep 2010Love the shot of Cheeky and the rose! 🙂
That snail is thinking, trying to decide something. Though what snails have to decide, I know not…

17 Sep 2010Adele, Cheeky is turning out to be a great subject for the camera. As for the snail, I suspect it's scanning the horizon for the nearest uneaten leaf (quite a rarity!).
