Some nearby squealing this evening is the trigger for this post. Yes there are cubs nearby; and no, I haven't seen them yet (and nor has the trail cam). There has, however, been a change in fox activity in the garden over the past two or three nights including a notable newcomer.
Meet the new vixen. She is showing signs of lactating.
She is sometimes accompanied by the small vixen who is a regular. Here's the two of them together.
Meanwhile Shutterbug is proving to be more active in daylight hours (and as you can see from the second shot he's been given the job of food fetcher).
The one other regular is the badger, who continues to appear nightly.
Meanwhile, England's drought goes on… amid constant rain and a flurry of flood warnings. All true, and all so typical of what passes for weather in these parts.
Camera note: all shots via the Bushnell Trophy Cam.

26 Apr 2012dW, it's not the first time we've combined drought with floods over here. We get used to it!

28 Apr 2012Welcome to the new vixen! Is that the injured badger? If so, its wounds have healed well.

29 Apr 2012Adele, the vixens are beginning to appear more frequently… plenty of cub sounds nearby as well. I assume that's the same badger. It's a very regular visitor at the moment.
