Last night (Sunday/Monday) proved to be the quietest night of the year on the trail cam. There were a couple of shots of Shutterbug at around 11pm, and then nothing. No sign of the vixen at all.

The camera is set up again for tonight so I'll be able to see if they do show up, but I would hazard a guess that the vixen has gone to ground to give birth to cubs. It then depends how far away she is as to how long it will be before she reappears in the garden, and several weeks more before even a glimmer of any cubs above ground. If they're not very close by I wouldn't expect any youngsters until around June.

Meanwhile it was a cold and quiet day at the pond. The jackdaws are busy playing 'Through the Keyhole', wondering 'whose house is this?' (we know, of course).

The only other shot worth posting is the crazy looking white goose.

As for vixen, maybe those two white dots on the right (first photo) might be her eyes :sherlock:

  3. That goose looks like someone who shouldn't be messed with.

  4. Darko, those dots are actually street lights in the distance… they're in every shot from that night. 🙁

  5. dW, so you liked the goose 😀

  6. Adele, looks are deceiving. It's actually very friendly and the local children hand feed it!
