A selection of garden birds in the snow…
Robin redbreast

A dunnock

A sparrow

A female chaffinch

And finally, a greedy greenfinch

The freeze in the south of England looks set to last a few more days (at least), which gives me a chance of seeing one of the foxes out in the snow. So far I've missed them.

  1. Mam came out with this when it started snowing here this afternoon.

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing.

Are you snowed in? I was watching a news special on the BBC earlier and conditions looked pretty bad.

  2. Beautiful photos, i cant believe how much snow has fallen, over 4 inches! :yikes: very nice though especialy as i dont go back to workies until next week,. 😛

Its gonna be like an ice rink out there today. :smurf:

  3. Robin looks just gorgeous over there

Mickeyjoe, this is a nice song

  4. That greenfinch looks like it's having a late Christmas :chef:

  5. At least the snow provides a beautiful backdrop for the birds. Lovely photos!

  6. Brrrrrrr

  7. Lois, I'm enjoying getting some snowy photos, but if it doesn't ease up soon it will start to cause some real problems.

  8. Andy, well said :psmurf:

  9. Hi Mickey, yes I'm totally snowed in where I am. Nothing is moving (it's all hills in every direction). Beautiful, but not very practical!

  10. Adele, just so typical of greenfinches. In the feeder up to the neck! Chirpy little things though. 🙂

  11. Mark, I've been working from home so apart from the garden and a couple of local streets I haven't had a chance to really get out in the snow. The road outside is solid ice, so little chance of getting far over the next couple of days. Hopefully it will ease for next week, otherwise I can see myself having to walk in to work (3.5 miles across fields!).

  12. Erwin, thanks!

I'm in the same boat. Luckily I have no need to go anywhere.

  14. Darko, that's not the best I've ever taken but nice to get a robin in the snow. I may get more opportunities over the next few days :smurf:

  15. In that case, enjoy it while it lasts. 😀

  16. I love the snow and the beautiful setting the fluff provides… beautiful birds!

  17. Jill, thanks! We had a fresh coating of snow last night, and more on the way. It should clear later next week..

  18. Great photos
