The brief glimpse of summer that we enjoyed yesterday has vanished behind a day of mists and rain. At least I was up early enough to catch the only moderately clear part of the day, which is when I took this shot of a young and very angry crow screaming for some breakfast. The beleaguered parent is seemingly resigned to doing just that.

Just along from this raucous scene, the family of young ducklings were altogether more demure.

The rains came soon after that, and are still with us. Tomorrow looks not much better (or possibly, worse). If you've wondered what a very wet fox cub looks like, here's Rough-Ear from tonight.

And just a reminder to keep an eye on my Fox of the Day, and if you fancy a lengthy browse there are now over 2,500 foxes of the day at the complete fox of the day collection, dating back to June 2005.

  1. Poor fox. The expression on his face says it all.

  2. We could use a little of that rain over here, for sure. I'd be happy to go out in it and get just as wet as Rough-Ear.

  3. That is one unhappy cub. On the other hand, having being born into such a wet year, perhaps he doesn't know what he's missing.

  4. He could use a good toweling, and maybe a blow-dry.

  5. Hi Chthoniid! The fox's face says exactly what we all think about this excuse of a summer. The wettest June in around 150 years, and July is promising more of the same. I'm looking forward to the world's first aquatic Summer Olympics.

Well, it has been pretty wet here in NZ too, flash floods yesterday in Auckland. And with winter, also cold. But it's winter, so at least we have an excuse 🙂

  7. dW, that is so tempting! He probably would enjoy it. 😀

  8. dW, please feel free to come and take as much rain as you like. We won't object!

  9. Adele, they were very quiet last night. Even when the rain stops we tend to be shrouded in damp mists up here (generally low cloud as we're about 500' above sea level).

  10. Fox`s face says: This is sooo wrong :awww:

  11. Darko, and it goes on and on like this 🙁
