A Little Bit of Pond Life, and a trailcam fox

Not much today (we had heavy rain with a touch of wet snow mixed in), but life is slowly returning to the pond. There are a few frogs around, though not as many as I would like to see. And no signs yet of mating. Here's one of the frogs, taken last night.

The nymphs, on the other hand, are all over the pond. I'm not sure what's happened to the tail fins (gills) on this one, but it seemed lively enough.

A quiet week on the fox front, but the trailcam did get this shot of Shutterbug taking an early morning stroll through the garden a few days ago.

    How do you spot all those creatures at night on the pond?

    Nice shots.

    The damselfly nymphs look like large red – to chunky to be any other garden pond species

    Felix, you're probably right. He's had a hard night and is making his way home. As for the pond, I use a flash light to search what's there.

    dW, it seems to be getting colder again, but this is actually quite late for our frogs. The temperature today peaked at around 38°F.

    Neil, thanks. Yes they look like reds. I think we have some blues as well, but not as many.
