Yesterday seemed to be the start of spring, and a cursory glance this morning might have confirmed that we were finally looking forward to some improved (and more seasonally appropriate) weather. After all, the ducks were busy being naughty ducks in twos and threes…
The jackdaws were busy gathering nest material…
And the sun lit up the daffodil strewn churchyard and a pair of pretty mallards.
But to have thought that this was spring would have been a mistake.
Lunchtime. Snow. Not much, but the white stuff was falling. This is the local 13th century barn (seriously), once part of Thomas Cromwell's estate.
Tonight. No messing around this time. Large flakes of the stuff tumbling from the sky.
It hasn't really settled (and I don't expect it to), but it was still snowing just a few minutes ago. The forecast suggests a slight warming over the next few days and, on Sunday, a very welcome change in wind direction. It's been blowing from the North East for the past few weeks. Sunday brings a southern breeze and while the temperatures won't rocket they should certainly ease off a bit. I bet it rains. 😀
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens apart from teh final one which was snapped with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

4 Apr 2013LOL … it's doing the same thing over here, Words … they're saying "near 60°F" for the next few days, with a SW breeze … then back into the cellar for a bit.
It seems the jackdaws have pre-empted the barn owl's haunt, eh?

4 Apr 2013Are you following a TV show called Game of Thrones?
"The winter is coming!"
😛

4 Apr 2013Darko, I've heard of it but I refuse to pay for Sky television so we don't get to see it. I'd just like to see the winter going. 🙁

4 Apr 2013dW, we're promised a heart (and body) warming 7°C (45°F) next week. Bliss!
The jackdaws own that spot. They ousted the owl last year, but always a good excuse to re-publish it.

7 Apr 2013Still envious of the barn owl photo!
It was reputedly 7c here yesterday, but there was a considerable frost this morning. I think the swallows will give up and go back to Africa :right:

10 Apr 2013Adele, swallows? I've certainly not seen any yet. I hear that they follow the sun, so I'm not hopeful 🙁
