I've not had much time to post lately, so the Bank Holiday weekend has provided a chance to catch up on some of my regular subjects, including the local kestrels. I took these shots yesterday.

Today I spent an hour down at Rottingdean… and photographed a pigeon 😉

Plus some of the fulmars…

And this evening, who else but the bold vixen…

Camera note: the birds were all photographed with the Canon 40D and EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. I used the EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens for the photos of the vixen.

  1. Absolutely nothing wrong with pigeons  and that one is very pretty!

The vixen and the kestrels are great, of course. I also notice that you have blue sky :eyes: It's been occurring here only rarely and very briefly.

  2. But it's such a lovely pigeon. The shot of the kestrel looking straight at the camera is awesome.

  3. How many cubs do you think she has? :sherlock:

  4. Darko, I'm not sure but I would think three or four cubs is likely. I've not heard them though, so I don't know how close they are.

  5. Lois thanks! Kestrels are great for photographing. Much of the time they are stationery in the air so they are one of the few birds where you can actually pick an angle.

  6. Adele, the Rottingdean pigeons are remarkably varied. As is the sky… blue one minute, grey the next. We even had a burst of hail today.

  7. Thanks Erwin!

  8. Lovelly photos  The Vixen looks like she has about 6 boobs………. 😆

  9. Mark, I think you're right 😉

  10. A Great set of Pict
