The beautiful weather of week or so ago has given way to chill grey skies, though with no more than a hint of rain. It's cold and breezy . So just a couple of shots today of a great black-backed gull, which is the largest of the native gulls. Typically it's on its own (I've never seen more than a handful in the same area).

I've made a couple of brief forays into the garden tonight. No sign of the foxes, but one shot of a newt to add some colour to the shades of grey.

The signs for the rest of the week aren't great, but you never know. Something interesting may appear.

  1. Beautiful gull, Words!

  2. A condor amongst gulls. Imposing creature.

  3. Adele, they really are quite splendid in flight. So much more commanding than the herring gulls.

  4. dW, thanks!
