Brighton Seafront Manipulations

Well it was a dry start to the Bank Holiday (which is itself something of a bonus), but still bitterly cold. There were plenty of foolhardy souls willing to brave the chill on Brighton seafront, and those who did were granted some late afternoon sunshine. It did nothing for the temperature which stayed at a steadfast 2°C but which at times felt like -6°C with wind chill (for those of us who prefer proper temperatures – ie Fahrenheit – this is a true temperature of around 36°F but feeling like 21°F). :psmurf:

Not surprisingly I didn't take many photos, but early on I did take a quick sequence of shots around the entrance to the Palace Pier (improper name 'Brighton Pier'). In the third photo you'll note that the icecream shop is closed. Clearly they weren't expecting many takers today. The colour processing was all carried out in Lightroom.

It is odd – no rain on a bank holiday. It's still very cold here, too.

Interesting portrait series of the seafront. The icecream shop cannot be doing good business at the moment :right:

Well, in Russia they eat ice cream mostly during winter. But I guess it is only in Russia :left:

Adele, it makes a change that it's a dry Bank Holiday, but that's about all that can be said for it. Hopefully the May holidays will be accompanied by dry and warm weather. This is officially the coldest Easter on record.

Darko, that doesn't surprise me somehow. The ice cream is probably quite a bit warmer than the weather they get.

Exactly. I remember my aunt (she was tourist guide, specialized for former Soviet Union) telling me that it helps them avoid cold during severe winters – which is almost every one 😛
