After several days of dismal weather, we had a brief respite today and I was able to get down to the local pond for a short while. It's relatively quiet at this time of year, but there were several common darters darting around and one of the less common but extremely pretty butterflies, the Clouded Yellow. This is the more common variety (there's a Pale Clouded Yellow which is a rather more scarce visitor to these shores), and it was unusually bold. Hence I was able to get some good close-ups with the macro lens. More pictures from today in Butterflies and Bugs.
The darters were as cooperative as ever, though in leaning forward for one shot my mobile (phone) slipped out of my pocket and landed in thick mud! It still works, but won't re-charge :irked: So I now need a new phone (mine was very basic, not even stretching to a colour screen). So I'll finally be able to run OperaMini the way it was intended.
Finally, hearty congratulations to Adele and Andy for winning their respective categories in the My Opera awards. :wine:

22 Sep 2007Hi Words, thanks for the congrats! 😀
More wonderful shots here! The clarity in the clouded yellow pictures is amazing! I like the darter's eyes too 😀
Sorry to hear about your mobile / cell phone though :eyes: Photography can be a hazardous art, eh…

22 Sep 2007Very nice pics Words, i like the texture of the Butterfly in the first shot, its Proboscis (i think) is very long 😀
Oopsy about the phone, what i do is if its working save any stored numbers, important text nessages onto a piece of paper and if breakage does occur then all is not lost, i have learnt that in the past when i dropped my mobile in the sea on holiday once :aww:
Congrats to Andy aswell i forgot he won an award too Adele is returning to the UK soon, with this dismal weather i think Canada is better;)
