Cold Weather Friends

The temperature is hovering around zero, and frost abounds. There is still snow on the ground between London and the coast, and the parks are sparkling with frost.

The lakes sit and shiver.

The squrrels are doing what they can to find food (there are few tourists to feed them when it's like this).

Some just sit and try to keep warm…

The gulls are taking up skating as a winter pass time.

The robins seem to be faring well, foraging in the low corners of the gardens.

And this blackbird, found a plentiful supply of berries to keep it going.

But despite the cold, the park retains its timeless grace. I think this weather suits it well.

At home I've not seen the foxes, but a pair were in the garden at lunchtime.

    Mark, the foxes are certainly active. It's just too cold to wait for them outside every night. We seem to have four regulars… the two young ones, Bold and the new dog fox. Two male, two female… so presumably a few more little ones next year 😉

    Quite a culture shock for the squirrels! :whistle:

    Lovely shots. Nice to see the daylight foxes again, too. Frosty mornings usually mean sightings in the meadows around here. Though, right now we still have snow :right:

    Adele, they seem to be getting used to the cold. I'm seeing more of them again, now the people are back 😉 I've not had much luck with the foxes. A few glimpses is all, and it's still dark when I leave home.
