There's a new a couple of new faces down at the local pond… two delightful little white ducks. They seem to have appeared from nowhere (and I doubt they flew to the pond) so they are either juveniles who have been very successfully lurking in the shadows for the past few months, or abandoned domestic fowl. Whichever, they are very pretty indeed.

A more familiar face was leering out from the tree in the middle of the pond. Yes, the heron was once again scouting for fish from on high.

And back on the home front, a cheeky portrait of Shy Boy the fox.

  1. Great shots :hat:
    "abandoned domestic fowl"
Are there such things as white ducks living in wild at all?

  2. The heron looks even odder than usual in that pose.

Very pretty ducks indeed :). Your fox looks like a happy boy too!

  4. That duck look more like a goose to me :left:

  5. Sami, white ducks are generally domesticated hybrids. They get 'relocated' into ponds occasionally and become feral, which is what I suspect has happened here.

  6. Adele, the heron is a daily sighting at the moment, mainly in the morning but it's sometimes around later in the day.

  7. Darko, are you sure it's not a sparrowhawk :p It's definitely a duck!

  8. Gaina, thanks! The duck was very cute. As for the fox, he is among the friendliest we've known.

  9. 😛
