Just a brief post tonight, of some familiar faces from Regent's Park, but seen from new angles. First up is a heron.
This next shot is not really a new angle, but it is my first of the red crested pochards in flight.
And this is what the squirrels thought of the camera 😉
On other fronts, the first test with my new trail cam was a success. It will be interesting to see how the batteries last. My old cam had a rechargeable unit, but this one doesn't 🙁 On the other hand the quality of the video is much better on the new cam. I may even set it for stills occasionally. Several foxes (and as many local cats) were caught in its lens last night. There was Bold (of course), and at least one of the younger foxes (Cheeky, but possibly also the young male). Also, this rather splendid dog fox.
Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM.

19 Nov 2010I would not recognise heron at all, from that angle 😆

19 Nov 2010Always nice to see a new perspective. Imagine if you were a little froggie and saw that Heron. You wouldn't even realize that beak was a deadly weapon!
I often have things show me the same perspective as the squirrel!

19 Nov 2010Great footage! Definitely beats the Moultrie for close night shots. I might consider adding that model to my collection at some point!

19 Nov 2010😆 A very bushy tail. Definitely wouldn't be as cute without it. :eyes:

21 Nov 2010Adele, the Trophy cam is a nice small unit. I haven't tried it out on stills yet, but the video is pretty good. I'm interested to see how long the batteries last though given the amount of times it's fired. Apparently it can go a year on standby on 8 x AA lithiums.

21 Nov 2010Darko, they have very strange eyes from that angle (they seem to slope outwards!)

21 Nov 2010Robin, I guess that's a real advantage of such a narrow beak. It's remarkably difficult to see despite its size.
