There was thick fog when I left home this morning, and a fair mist when I came home again this evening. Thankfully the middle bit of the day was a slight improvement, with even a hint of sunshine (quickly followed by a shower) appearing at lunchtime.

The pond was relatively quiet. There are very few gulls in residence at the moment, but I have heard that a cormorant is lurking on the small island. I'll keep my eyes peeled. For the rest, it's a scattering of ducks, greylag geese and rails (moorhens mainly).

At the edge of the pond…

On the grass…

And finally, on the water….

  1. Moorhen is waving at you 😀

  2. The moorhen's toes are actually longer than its beak :right:

  3. Darko, I think it thinks it's John Cleese 🙂

  4. Adele, they certainly are. Hopefully we'll have some little balls of fluff soon. A most disproportioned bird!
